The dust’s only just settled on “Black Jukebox 12” and here we are with number 13 – another jam-packed slab of wax for your all-day summer terrace party. Onsra takes care of the A-side, unloading smooth conga-led grooves through “Funky Town” while snappy vocal hooks and scrumptious piano licks play call and response. “Burning Up” sees more insatiable disco loops filtered and twisted until they’re ready to tickle the Funktion1’s (or your Void Air Motion for the more discerning). Kiko Navarro gets to grips with the B-side, “Good Intention” beginning with a frenzied hi-pass loop attack before dropping into some hard disco. Finally, the affectionately named “Chordus Rolandus” sees Navarro jot sensual, dreamy chord sequences over a bouncy b-line and urgent drops. Recalling the halcyon days of proper deep house, luminescent and full of joy.
