Dutch producer Budakid delivers a spellbinding, slow-burning slice of melodic-tinged house music with RINGO BINGO. T.U.R.F. throw in the funk-fuelled, finger-lickin WHATCHA GONNA DO. Alan Dixon ditches the soulful feel of TAKEN ALL THIS TIME by James Curd for an acid/electro/Italo fusion on his bold remix. Joyce Muniz creates a dynamic, charismatic slice of dance gold with just a sprinkling of pop sensibility in the form of CRYSTALLINE. French duo O.N.O rock the Italo disco vibe with IN SPEKZION.
Phunkadelica opt for an Italo disco direction with an epic piano breakdown on their 1000 YEARS Remix for James Curd. Swedish artist NEAT take you on a hypnotic ride through subtle FX touches, robotic vocal snatches in AMBIENTE FASHION. Benjamin Fröhlich goes for a driving breakbeat vibe and oaring atmospherics on his remix for Budakid’s RINGO BINGO. Bordering the lines between slinky nu disco and pumping house, O.N.O’s DON’T YOU KNOW features sublime, breathy vocals from fellow Parisian newcomer, Praa. Enduro Disco provides a gently euphoric, deep roller on FOREVER. Swaying synth arpeggios and unhurried beat recalling some of Soulwax’s more pared back material can be heard in Stefano Ritteri’s & Mytron’s DONNA. Theus Mago zeroes in on the acid content, gurgling 303s oscillating over stuttering bass throbs and swaggering half-time breakbeat to chilling effect on his SAY LESS, NOT MORE Remix for James Curd. Holger Zilske retains the deep vibe of DEEP IN MY HEART by Enduro Disco but laces it with a dubby feel and more of a taut inflexion in its percussive groove. LET’S SHAKE by Phonk D closes the compilation with serious funk intent, mixing a thumping MJ-esque bassline with some of that late ‘70s / early ‘80s synth magic. All in all this is a great eclectic dance compilation.
