::Shir Khan Presents Secret Gold 12::
More dancefloor heat from Shir Khan’s Exploited Records arrives in the form of the twelfth edition of his ‘Secret Gold’ series.
A loose disco cut, Mingo’s ‘You Can’t Rave In A Buffalo Herd’ follows from the Hamburg resident’s ‘Sunscreen’ bomb on ‘Black Jukebox Disco House Jam Vol. 2’ last year. A filtered disco groove rises from the depths with snappy beats in support and slow phasers drenching it in waves of psych goodness. It suddenly explodes into a funked-up, soulful frenzy that is guaranteed to get fists pumping on the dancefloor. Is it summer already?
The second cut on this hot release comes from another German city: Kassel. Manolo Bronson & Zoka connect here for another slinky groove in the form of ‘Velvet Coat’. Zoka is well known on the local scene for his work booking DJs for local hotspots A.R.M. and Club Unten over the years, and he is an increasingly impressive force in the studio. Together they cook up another feel-good cut based around sweet guitar licks and vibrant live bass, with gentle Latin percussion and melancholy electric piano motifs winding their way around the meat of the track. A triumphant disco string assemblage tops the track off for a rousing finale.
