::Stefan Braatz – I Need U feat. Hard Ton::
Germany meets Italy in this explosive clash of acid house heads, with a hefty remix package in support.
Berlin underground hero Stefan Braatz has been a fan of Italian duo Hard Ton since their 2009 monster ‘Time To Jack’, and has wanted to work with them ever since. “ We connected via social media at some point and talked about music and projects” he explains. “ Sooner or later I had them in the boat for the track ‘I Need U ’”.
We should all be thankful he reached out to them: this new track is an absolute beast. A masterful slice of camp acid house / disco fusion, the track revolves around a high-drama falsetto vocal and a squelching 303 bassline, supported by classic drum beats. Its succinct arrangement is testament to how quality each part is, with little else needed to make this anthem soar.
The remixes offer a host of heavyweight alternatives. Oliver Dollar takes it into a deeper, more plaintive place with less melodic meandering and some sorrowful chords. Label mainstay Joyce Muniz injects nagging chords and a throbbing tom tom bassline into her stripped-back version, lacing it with some spooky filtered synth delays for some added atmospherics. Past Visions’ Dub provides a harder, more raw interpretation, looping the acid bassline and building chugging techno percussion over the top, making for a very tense and slow-burning experience. A Jackin’ Phreak’s Acid Xperience Mix completes the package, with wiggly bass and a patchwork of 303 textures building to a hypnotic crescendo.
