São Paulo based Renato Cohen adds to an expansive back catalogue with a 2-hit combo on Exploited Club. Previous releases have come via Pets Recordings, Defected, Future Disco and as well as a recent link up with Exploited regular Joyce Muniz for Permanent Vacation.
‘Good Times’ sparks things up with bright, muscular drums that pave the way for a rasping bass line – a killer DJ tool. Percussion and FX take the limelight while a syncopated kick / bass bounce off each other. Raw energy is spat out while snares clash and vocals march along with an intensity that doesn’t let up. The potency of the ingredients is what carries the track as it confidently smacks of a raw simplicity that fans of Strip Steve will recall.
‘Rain Dance’ is a brash and stroppy record that channels the energy of hay-day blog-House. Kicks, snares and bass are given a serrated edge as their wielded with Justice, Vitalic and Soulwax-esque feorcity.
