Ever the agile creator – Deckert follows up on releases for Watergate, Nothing Is Real and Gerd Janson’s Running Back with 3 heated shades of House.
‘Lovin’Fine’ sets an unbridled tone from the get-go with some raw, jacked House music. Chomping drums are singed at the edges giving them a brash and bashy quality as they punch out a magnetic 4/4 while clipped, hypnotic vocals ring out overhead. Make no mistake, this is a dance floor groove, plain and simple – one that encapsulates a smutty Sunday vibe and recalls some of the more humid and raucous Hot Creations moments.
‘Down and Down’ flips the mood, dimming the lights as it rolls out like a velvet carpet. Warm, buttery Rhodes keys rub shoulders with debonair stabs and an oozing bass line as progress glides towards an effortlessly elegant break. A charming piano is given space to glows before the energy snaps back with perfectly poised drama.
‘Says Who’ rounds things off nicely – nestling neatly betwixt it’s predecessors in both vibe and intensity. The groove tumbles in circles, maintaining a steady momentum as more classic sounding vocals call out and another acid-tinged bass line colours the low end. A protracted and spacious breakdown carves a hole in the centre before the energy swells and pops, finishing the record off with sharpened focus and capping off a steamy addition to the Exploited catalogue.
