::Andre Crom & Martin Dawson – Need U Back::
Limited Vinyl Edition.
Only 300 Copies! No reprints!
After their recent success with their latest remix for Homework’s track “I’m Into This” on Exploited which has been holding a strong position in the Beatport house charts for the last 3 months, Andre Crom&Martin Dawson suggested to make a guestrelease on Shir Khan’s Berlin imprint Exploited. Here it is: A peaktime oldschool house roller with a kicking remix by Homework. Already highlighted by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, Solomun, Axel Boman, Round Table Knights, Hot Chip and dOP.
Martin Dawson has been absolutely smashing it for the last 12 months, with some very successful releases and collaborations with some of the best labels in underground house and tech including Cocoon, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, 2020vision, Off Recordings, Moodmusic and Pets. Notably his Sunday Smoking album released late last year was a huge success, with a number of charismatic, melodic house and deep tracks aimed at the dancefloor, as well as some beautifully crafted downtempo soundscapes more fitting with a lazy sunday afternoon.
Andre Crom’s coproductions with Martin Dawson „Gonna Be Alright“, „In the City“ or „About You“ were instant hits on Decks, Beatport and Resident Advisor as well.
You’d expect any collaboration between seasoned studio veterans Andre Crom and Martin Dawson to be suitably solid, and “Need U Back” doesn’t disappoint. In fitting with many current deep house records, it looks back for inspiration, infusing its tech-tinged deep house grooves with bumpin’ New Jersey bass and hypnotic, bleep-heavy riffs reminiscent of the NYC’s finest mid-90s cuts. Homework’s laidback remix adds some much-needed shuffle to the previously rigid beats, throwing some spine-tingling breakdowns into a delightfully spacious and heartwarming mix.
An almost perfect aural description of an architypal house jam. If you have even a molecule of love in you for the four-four, then you’ll find it difficult not to keep coming back to this one. Only 300 vinyls pressed. Bag one.
‘Andre Crom and Martin Dawson join Berlin’s Exploited label with this little number that’s already been championed by Pete Tong, Solomun and Hot Chip. Like Summer’s “Higher Feel” by Consistent on the same label, “Need You Back” is a sweaty, druggy tech-house banger for the strobe-powered main room. With a distinctly UK synth sound but a Chi-town swing, the pair work the filters and delays to great effect, creating a UK-US house hybrid with a cleverly placed ‘Letnomanputasunder’ vocal sample. The Homework remix goes even techier, with a cascading digital arp trickling through the mix and more synthetic, radiant sounds, this is definitely for very late on into the session. The breakdowns are suitably long, drawn out and druggy; just made for staring all glazed-eyed around at the rest of the dancefloor in sheer exuberance and ecstasy. More top drawer firepower from the Exploited crew – a non-stop shop for DJ secret weapons ;)’ (Piccadilly Records)
